Grisly accident

Kosgey was among six people who died in the tragic helicopter crash in Nandi County on February 28, 2026, an incident that sent shockwaves across the country.

The young journalist was part of MP Ng’eno’s media team and had built a reputation as a talented and versatile creative.

Governor Barchok had earlier revealed that Kosgey began his media journey during an internship at the county’s communications department in 2023, where he quickly stood out for his dedication and wide-ranging skills.

He excelled in writing, bilingual reporting, editing, broadcasting, and photography, establishing himself as a hard-working and resourceful media professional.

His impressive work later caught the attention of the late MP Ng’eno, who brought him on board as his personal photographer and media handler.

Kosgey went on to become a key figure behind the MP’s public image, producing impactful photos and short videos that documented his engagements.

He hailed from Kipkebe Village in Silibwet Township Ward, Bomet Central Sub-County, where he is set to be laid to rest.

The crash that claimed his life occurred near Chepkieb Primary School in Mosop, Nandi County, in what authorities believe may have been influenced by poor weather conditions.

The aircraft, identified as an Airbus H125, was engulfed in flames after going down, with all six people on board losing their lives.

Kosgey’s death has dealt a heavy blow to the media fraternity, with colleagues and leaders mourning him as a promising journalist whose life was cut short at the peak of his potential.
