Several feared dead after a chopper crashes in Nandi

A helicopter has crashed in a densely forested area in Chepkieb, Mosop Sub-County, Nandi County, with an unknown number of people feared to be on board.
Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft crash-landed at Chepkieb Primary School field after struggling with poor weather conditions, including heavy rainfall that has been pounding the area throughout the day.
The exact cause of the crash is yet to be confirmed.
Videos circulating online show the helicopter engulfed in flames, with thick smoke rising from the wreckage.
The footage also reveals charred remains inside the aircraft, partially obscured by thick bushes in the heavily forested crash site.
People can be seen milling around the scene, attempting to assess the damage and assist where possible, while the smoke continues to rise from the twisted and burnt fuselage.

The identities of the occupants are not yet officially confirmed.
The incident occurred at around 4:45 p.m., sending shockwaves through the local community.
Nandi North OCPD Simon Muli confirmed the crash but has not provided further details regarding the number of occupants or their identities.
The crash site’s remote and bushy terrain is complicating rescue and recovery efforts, with emergency teams working to access the wreckage safely.
