Queens of Vibe! Harambee Starlets bring energy and pomp to FIFA Women’s Series

The inaugural FIFA Series may have only just begun, but the Kenyan women’s national team, Harambee Starlets, has already made the event unforgettable.
Taking a cue from the FKF’s plea for fans to turn out in large numbers, families and individuals filled the stands for a football-packed evening of entertainment, and Beldine Odemba’s side provided the perfect gloss.
Tasked with a daunting challenge against an Indian team ranked 66 places above them, the Starlets showed their mettle. They punched well above their weight to roar past their Asian opponents, marking a historic winning start to the tournament in a 2-0 victory.
Fasila on the flanks
On the flanks, Simba Queens attacker Fasila Adhiambo was a joy to watch as she ran riot through the Indian defence. A true “lioness in her lair”, she left the Blue Tigresses with no answers for her mazy runs and trickery.

The former Ulinzi Starlets striker acted as the creator-in-chief for Kenya’s opening goal just two minutes in and could have easily doubled her assist tally within the first ten minutes.
A Kenyan Carnival
The Ulinzi Sport Complex may be the bastion of women’s football in recent times, but Nyayo Stadium claimed a piece of its own with the electric atmosphere of pure celebration. Fans turned out in droves, turning the stands into a party with song and dance. On the pitch, the action was just as fluid, with the Starlets delivering a commanding and cohesive performance.
The Kenyan spirit of “dance and vibes” remains a cornerstone of the country’s rich sporting culture. Following in the footsteps of the Shujaa rugby heroes—who famously wow global crowds with their moves—the Starlets were not to be left behind.
After their early goal, led by Mwanahalima ‘Dogo’ Adam, the team performed a short but thrilling dance routine that electrified the already jubilant crowd.
Looking Ahead
With the perfect mood set following this victory, all eyes now turn to Wednesday. The Starlets head into their final task under the floodlights, where they are set to face a formidable Australian side.
The two will face off in the final on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
