Arteta urges Arsenal to cease Bournemouth moment as Gunners chase elusive EPL title

Following a month-long pause, the Premier League resumes on Saturday afternoon, April 11, 2026, with Arsenal hosting Bournemouth as the campaign heads into its decisive phase. The Gunners will be aiming to build momentum with another win on home soil.
Bournemouth’s form
The North London side comes up against a Bournemouth team currently enjoying the longest unbeaten streak in the league, having gone 11 matches without defeat since Arsenal edged them 3-2 earlier in the year.

Although the Cherries claimed victory at the Emirates in May 2025, Arsenal have since turned their home ground into a stronghold, losing just once there in league action.
That impressive consistency has lifted Arsenal to the summit of the standings, and they now have a chance to stretch their advantage over Manchester City to 12 points, depending on results elsewhere, a margin that would mark their biggest lead at the close of a matchday in Premier League history.
Bournemouth, however, remain a tricky opponent. Since their defeat to Arsenal in January, they have managed to pick up points in every fixture, though a run of draws has limited their climb up the table. Sitting mid-table but within touching distance of European qualification, their season has been marked by inconsistency, alternating between strong unbeaten spells and winless runs.
Despite losing key attacking figure Antoine Semenyo, the Cherries have remained difficult to beat, especially away from home, where they are currently on a six-game unbeaten run. However, goals have been hard to come by in recent outings.

What managers said
Speaking ahead of the clash, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stressed the importance of the fixture, saying:
“We know the meaning of every match and the opportunity that we have, especially when we play at home. We need to maximise every result. It’s about each individual and how we turn up there. It’s actually impacting the game, the atmosphere and energy in the stadium,” Arteta said.
“The closer we get, the relevance and importance of the match increases obviously, and tomorrow is a big day for us. The players know it, our supporters know it. It’s an early kick-off, so get up early, have an early breakfast, bring your lunch, bring your dinner, and let’s go all together for it because it has to be a big day,” he added.
On the opposing bench, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola acknowledged the scale of the challenge, noting:
“We will see if we are ready. We should be fresh and definitely motivated, though, because we are facing Arsenal, away from home, in a big game.
“There’s never a good moment to face them. They are always very difficult to beat. They changed their team a bit for those cup games, but recovered their starting XI for Sporting and took a massive win. I expect the best Arsenal.”

Team news
Team news suggests Arsenal could welcome back Ebere Eze from injury, while players like Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber are closing in on returns. Meanwhile, Bournemouth have also been boosted by the recovery of several squad members during their extended break.
Tactically, Iraola’s side is known for its energetic pressing and rapid transitions, often moving the ball forward at speed. Their resilience has also been notable, frequently fighting back from losing positions to salvage results.
With both teams bringing strong form into the encounter, Saturday’s fixture promises to be a crucial test as Arsenal continue their pursuit of the title, while Bournemouth aim to keep their unbeaten run alive and push toward the European places.
