Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Customer Engagement and Citizen Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has shared a follow-up on one of his most talked-about humanitarian interventions involving a man popularly known as “Tree Man,” whose story first captured public attention after he was found living inside a makeshift structure built on top of a tree along Jogoo Road.

In a statement shared via his Instagram page on June 4, 2026, Mosiria revisited how he first encountered the man during routine environmental supervision and decided to intervene after learning about his difficult living conditions.

“Mnakumbuka Tree Man? He is the man I rescued last year along Jogoo Road. He had built an illegal structure on top of a tree and was using it as his home. I encountered him while conducting environmental supervision and decided to engage him to understand why he had chosen to live in such conditions,” Mosiria said.

He explained that what began as a chance encounter quickly turned into a deeper conversation that revealed the struggles behind the unusual living arrangement, prompting him to step in and offer immediate support.

“After listening to his heartbreaking story and learning how he ended up living on a tree, I asked him what kind of help he needed. He told me that a mkokoteni (handcart) would help him earn a living, so I bought one for him. However, I later realised that this alone would not be enough to transform his life,” he said.

Mosiria noted that his intervention went beyond the initial assistance, as he later helped the man secure decent housing and connected him to a job opportunity at Sialkot Motor Ltd, where he now works as a car salesperson.

“I continued supporting him by helping him secure decent housing, and one of my friends generously reached out and offered him a job as a car salesperson at Sialkot Motor Ltd. Since then, I have been following up on his progress, and today I visited him. I was truly impressed by the transformation,” Mosiria said.

He added that the man’s growth has been remarkable, saying he is now more confident and skilled in his new role compared to when they first met.

“He is a completely different person from the man I met last year. He has learned a lot, gained confidence, and is now becoming even better at marketing and sales than he was before,” he said.

Mosiria emphasised the importance of following up on people after offering assistance, saying it helps track real impact and encourages continued transformation. “Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than seeing someone rise above their challenges and rebuild their life. Indeed, God is faithful. To Him be all the glory,” he stated.
