A small mud-walled house in Getare Village, Bobasi Constituency, Kisii County, has become the centre of attention after residents reported seeing what they believe is an image of the Virgin Mary on one of its kitchen walls.

For years, the house was an ordinary village home, with its kitchen regularly filled with smoke and the familiar aroma of ugali being prepared over a traditional fire. However, since last Friday, the quiet homestead has attracted a growing stream of visitors after a faint shadow appeared on the kitchen wall.

By Sunday, thousands of curious villagers, worshippers and preachers had reportedly visited the home to see the unusual image for themselves.

The appearance has caused excitement and debate in the village, with many people saying the shadow resembles the Virgin Mary. Others have travelled from neighbouring areas simply out of curiosity, hoping to get a closer look at the image that has suddenly turned an ordinary kitchen into one of the most talked-about places in the area.

Residents have continued gathering around the mud-walled house as news of the image spreads by word of mouth and across social media. What began as a faint shadow on Friday quickly became the subject of conversation throughout the weekend, drawing large crowds to the homestead.

Now, villagers are approaching the home with a mixture of faith, curiosity and disbelief. Some believe the image could carry a spiritual meaning, while others have come because they want to see for themselves what has caused so much excitement in Getare Village.
