Saturday weather: Kenya Met predicts generally dry conditions with strong winds in selected counties

Kenyans stepping out on Saturday, September 5, 2026, can look forward to a mostly clear day outdoors according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.
The daily forecast shows that calm conditions will prevail in most regions with most parts of the country expected to remain generally dry.
Rainfall expectations and wind advisories
While dry weather dominates across the country, a few places will experience localised rain. The weather department highlights that rainfall is to be expected in some parts of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Nyandarua and Bungoma counties.
Coastal counties including Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi can expect sunny intervals alongside light morning showers over a few places, with maximum temperatures hovering between 29°C and 30°C.
Wind activity will also be noticeable in several eastern, northern, and coastal areas.
The weather bulletin warns that “Strong southerly to southeasterly winds of above 25 knots (12.5m/s) expected over parts of Turkana, Marsabit, Isiolo, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu and Kitui Counties.”
Temperature shifts across regions
In Nairobi, residents should prepare for a cloudy start to the day before sunny intervals set in, accompanied by a chance of light afternoon showers over a few places.
Temperatures in the capital city will range from a cool minimum of 13°C to a warm maximum of 27°C. Sunrise in Nairobi was at 6:28 am, with sunset expected at 6:34 pm.
Heat levels will peak in the northern regions, with Turkana and Mandera recording maximum temperatures of 36°C. Conversely, Nyandarua will experience the coldest night in the country, dropping to a minimum of 6°C.
Meanwhile, the Lake Victoria region, including Kisumu, Siaya, and Homa Bay, will enjoy sunny intervals throughout the morning and afternoon, with Kisumu recording maximum temperatures of 32°C.
