Saturday weather: Kenya Met forecasts dry conditions, coastal showers and strong winds

If you are planning your day for Saturday, August 29, 2026, the weather looks mostly favourable for outdoor plans across most of the country.
According to the latest update from the Kenya Meteorological Department, most parts of the country are expected to remain generally dry throughout the day.
Coastal showers and gusty winds
If you live along the Coast or plan to head out outdoors, keep a light raincoat or umbrella close by.
The forecasters note that rainfall is expected in some parts of Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale during the morning hours, though sunny intervals will return later in the afternoon.
Temperatures along the Coast will stay warm, with Mombasa hitting a maximum of 30°C and a minimum of 23°C, while Lamu will top out at 30°C.

Aside from the light morning showers, residents in several eastern and northern counties should prepare for breezy conditions.
The weather agency cautions that “Strong southerly to southeasterly winds of above 25 knots (12.5m/s) expected over parts of Turkana, Marsabit, Isiolo, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu and Kitui Counties”.
If you are stepping out in these areas, expect dry and windy conditions.
Warm days and cold nights upcountry
For everyone in Nairobi and the central highlands, sunny intervals will dominate the day. Nairobi is set to reach a daytime high of 26°C after starting the morning with cool temperatures of 12°C.
Nearby counties like Kiambu and Murang’a will experience similar patterns, peaking at 24°C and 25°C respectively. However, Nyandarua County will record the coldest temperatures of the day, dropping down to 6°C.
Over in the Rift Valley and Western Kenya, sunny skies will prevail for most of the day. Kisumu and Homa Bay will remain warm with maximum temperatures of 32°C and 30°C.
Bungoma will see sunny intervals in the morning, though light showers are likely over few places during the afternoon.
Meanwhile, Mandera will record the highest temperature nationwide, reaching up to 37°C under clear, sunny skies.
