Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 3 counties on Saturday, September 19, 2026

Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance that will affect parts of three counties on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
In a notice issued on Friday, September 18, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled maintenance will result in temporary power interruptions in selected areas of Kakamega, Busia and Siaya counties.
Customers in the affected areas have been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the planned outages.
Kakamega County
In Kakamega County, the planned maintenance will affect areas around Mumias Sugar Factory from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.
The affected areas include Butere, Shianda, Matungu, Sabatia, Khwisero, Bukura, Mumias Town, Shibale, Harambee, Ekero and adjacent customers.
“Parts of Kakamega County: Mumias Sugar Factory. Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026. Time: 8:00 am – 11:00 pm. Affected areas include Butere, Shianda, Matungu, Sabatia, Khwisero, Bukura, Mumias Town, Shibale, Harambee, Ekero and adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.
Busia County
In Busia County, Kenya Power has scheduled maintenance in Busia Town and surrounding areas from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.
The affected areas include Malava Town, Ruambwa, Port Victoria, Sioport, Bumala, Butula, Mabinzu, Mundika, Angurai, County Offices and adjacent customers.
“Parts of Busia County: Busia Town. Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026. Time: 8:00 am – 11:00 pm. Affected areas include Malava Town, Ruambwa, Port Victoria, Sioport, Bumala, Butula, Mabinzu, Mundika, Angurai, County Offices and adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.
Siaya County
In Siaya County, the planned maintenance will affect areas around Ugunja Town from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
The affected areas include Ukwala, Rangala Girls, Dominion Farm, Siaya Prison, Aluor Girls, Sigomere, Siaya Town, County Offices and adjacent customers.
“Parts of Siaya County: Ugunja Town. Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026. Time: 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Affected areas include Ukwala, Rangala Girls, Dominion Farm, Siaya Prison, Aluor Girls, Sigomere, Siaya Town, County Offices and adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.
Kenya Power urged customers in the affected areas to take note of the scheduled interruptions and make the necessary arrangements ahead of the maintenance exercise.
