Kenya Power announces planned maintenance blackouts in 5 counties on Thursday, September 17

Kenya Power has notified customers of planned power outages scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026, to allow for routine system maintenance.
The temporary interruptions will affect specific locations in Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru, Kisumu, and Kisii counties.
Nairobi and Kajiado outages
In Nairobi, the outage will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting parts of Kilimani, Jamhuri Estate, and Woodley.
Key residential and commercial areas along Chania Avenue, Wood Avenue, Ring Road Kilimani, Mugo Kibiru Road, Joseph Kangethe Road, and sections of Ngong Road, Suna Road, and Kindaruma Road will also experience power loss.
Plazas and hotels such as Adlife Plaza, Prestige Plaza, Eastlands Hotel, and Togo Flats are on the list, alongside institutions like Moi Girls School, French School, Toi Primary School, and the busy Toi Market trading hub.
Neighbouring Kajiado County will also see interruptions between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Affected places include Bulbul and Kerarapon, covering Kangawa, Vet Farm, Juanco, Jogoo Road, Masai School, the local SGR facilities, and surrounding households.
Rift Valley, Western, and Nyanza blackouts
In the Central Rift region, parts of Naivasha Town in Nakuru County will go without power from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
The scheduled maintenance will impact residents and businesses around Crayfish, Kwa Muhia, Kongoni, Maiela, Duro Centre, Lake Oloiden Resort, Aquila, Sagutiek, Rain Forest, Ndabibi, and Eburru Hills.
In the Western region, power supply in Kisumu County will be disrupted from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected zone centres around KEDA Ceramics, extending to Miwani Police Station and neighbouring sections of Miwani.
Meanwhile, South Nyanza will see outages in Kisii County between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. The maintenance work will cover the Nyachenge and Kerina areas, affecting Botoro, Riotanchi, Iyabe, Misesi, Mwata, Sigisi, Misisita, Gakero, Nyamboga, and nearby premises.
Kenya Power advises customers in these regions to plan ahead during the scheduled maintenance hours.
