Tottenham Hotspur’s majority owners have injected a further £120 million (about Ksh20.9 billion) into the club as the Lewis family continues to increase its financial commitment to the Premier League side.

According to Sky Sports News, the latest funding takes the total amount provided by the club’s majority owners to approximately £320 million (KSh55.9 billion) over the past 12 months.

The latest cash injection comes after the Lewis family, which controls Spurs’ majority shareholder ENIC, invested another £100 million (Ksh17.5 billion) in the club during the summer.

The increased financial backing comes amid changes in the ownership structure and decision-making at Tottenham following the departure of Daniel Levy as executive chairman last September.

The Lewis family has since taken a more prominent role in the running of the north London club. Its summer investment also increased its shareholding in Tottenham to approximately 88 per cent.

Levy had been offered an opportunity to increase his own holding in proportion to the new investment to prevent his stake from being diluted. However, he did not exercise the option before the deadline, resulting in his shareholding falling from 29.88 per cent to around 27 per cent.

It remains unclear whether Levy will be offered a similar opportunity following the latest £120 million investment.

If he does not participate, his stake could be diluted further to approximately 25 per cent, according to Sky Sports News.

The latest investment represents a significant financial commitment from Tottenham’s owners as the club continues to operate under its post-Levy ownership structure.

The funds also come at a time when Spurs are seeking to strengthen their position on and off the pitch, with the Lewis family now playing a greater role in determining the club’s direction.

At the current exchange rate, the combined £320 million injected over the past year is worth approximately Ksh55.9 billion, underlining the scale of the financial backing being provided to Tottenham.

Meanwhile, club manager Roberto De Zerbi recently commented on the side’s slow start to the new campaign, saying:

“It’s not a tough moment. Last season was a tough moment. Now is not normal, but when you start late – because we only started working with Marmoush, Savio, Solanke and Maddison two days ago,” De Zerbi explained to Sky Sports after a league fixture against Everton.
