Stoopid Boy laid to rest at his mother’s home in Nyandarua

Kenyan Arbantone artiste Stoopid Boy has been laid to rest at his mother’s home in Miharati, Kipipiri, Nyandarua County, nearly three weeks after his death.
The late musician, whose real name was Edgar Waititu, was buried on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, as family, friends and fans gathered to bid him farewell.
His burial followed weeks of uncertainty over where he would be laid to rest, with his maternal and paternal families initially holding different positions.
Stoopid Boy’s father, George William Ochieng Awili, had wanted his son buried at the family’s ancestral home in Alego, Siaya, saying the artiste had repeatedly expressed that wish before his death.
“I just want to fulfil my son’s wishes. He told me that my dad, if I die, take me to my home in Siaya,” Ochieng previously said.
The disagreement had delayed burial arrangements, with a court case also preventing the family from proceeding with the funeral plans.
Burial arrangements
Stoopid Boy’s mother later said the legal dispute was resolved after the case filed by his father’s side was withdrawn.
She explained that the family then decided to hasten the burial because the artiste’s body had remained at the mortuary for almost a month.
“Today we had come to clear the mortuary bill. And it was not easy,” she said.
She also revealed that the family had struggled to collect the body and raise funds for the burial while the court case was ongoing.
A well-wisher identified as Stazo helped the family settle the mortuary bill and paid for the vehicle that transported the body.
The family also received assistance from media personality Oga Obinna, who helped them secure a coffin for the late artiste.
Stoopid Boy’s death
Stoopid Boy, best known for his hit Gbag Na Jug, died on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
His close friend, singer Jay Classic, confirmed the news in a Facebook video after arriving at the artiste’s home in Gotha City. He said Stoopid Boy’s manager, Casto, was also at the home as mourners gathered.
“I am here at Gotha City, and Stoopid Boy has indeed died. So it is sad news, guys. Here, where he died, his manager Casto has also arrived,” Jay said.
Jay later claimed that Stoopid Boy had died by suicide, saying, “Sad news. Stoopid Boy amejinyonga. Niko hapa kwao sahii na mambo sio fiti, guys.”
He also disclosed that the death came about two months after the death of Stoopid Boy’s brother.
“Kumbuka hata two months hazijaisha tangu bro yake adedi. Sahii mamake amebaki bila mtoto hata mmoja,” he added.
Stoopid Boy leaves behind two young children.
