Kenya Power lists parts of 3 counties set for blackouts on Sunday, September 20

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of three counties on Sunday, September 20, 2026, as the utility company carries out network maintenance.

The affected areas will experience power interruptions at different times depending on the location. Kenya Power said the maintenance is necessary for network operations and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow ( 20.09.2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” Kenya Power said on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Nairobi County

In Nairobi County, the planned interruption will affect parts of Komarock from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas affected include parts of Quarry, Komarock Phase 1, Mbuyu Court, Acacia Court, Mihango, Spring Valley, parts of Kayole, Kayole Junction, Tushauriane and Kayole 1 Market.

Other affected areas include Kayole Police Stn, Matopeni, Mihango Bus Stage, Kayole Posta, Jawaka Travellers Bar, Kayole Nyaura Bus Stage and adjacent customers.

Laikipia County

In Laikipia County, the interruption will affect the whole of Nanyuki and Mukima from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. The affected areas include Nanyuki Town, Thingithu Estate, Teachers Estate, Cidar Mall, Nanyuki High School, Laikipia Air Base and British Army Training Unit Kenya.

Other areas listed by Kenya Power include Muthaiga Estate, Kanyoni Est, Sitara Millers, Nanyuki General Hosp, Fair Mount Safari Club, 1KR, Baraka Estate, Sweet Waters, Mirera, Marura, Njoguini, Rwai Estate, Kirimo, Ichuga and Makutano Est.

The interruption will also affect Kangaita, Mathagiro, Ntrukuma, Nkando, Likii Estate, Likii Farm, Milimani, Katheri, Ontulili, Mwireri, Naibor, Jua Kali, Kimuri, Edana, Segera Mission, Ngarengiro, Olpajeta, Mayan Hotel, KHE Farm, Muramati, Mukima and adjacent customers.

Garissa County

In Garissa County, parts of Garissa Solar and Mbalala NYS will experience an interruption from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas listed include Bula Mzuri, Hodhan, Kunaso, Bula Sambul, Mkono Hosp, PGH, Garissa Ndogo and Bula Madina.

Other affected areas include Bula ADC, Bula Cadan, Bula Dobale, Bula Rig, Bula Gestow, Bula Buris, Tawakal, Modika, Modika Barracks, Garissa University, Quba and Sankuri Town.

The list also includes Balambala, Garissa Solar Plant, Saka Town, NYS Balambala and adjacent customers. Kenya Power said the interruptions are part of planned network maintenance and expressed regret over any inconvenience that may occur during the operations.
