Former Chelsea ace Nicolas Jackson speaks on his EPL return with Aston Villa

Aston Villa coach Unai Emery and Nicolas Jackson have expressed their relief after earning their first points of the season in a memorable 3-2 win over hosts Tottenham Hotspur
The Saturday, September 19, 2026, early kick-off pitted two teams with zero league wins, leaving the boss and the Senegalese attacker content with the results.
Senegal striker Jackson, who put the visitors’ lead in a safe place with a goal at the hour mark, shared his delight at returning to the English Premier League after securing a summer move from Chelsea FC to the Midlands club.
The striker spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians opted against making his move permanent before his return to Chelsea.
While expressing his delight for the goal, he also wished Spurs the very best as they look to turn around their dismal league start. Jackson shared his delight for netting his first goal after his switch from Chelsea FC in the summer:

“I’m very happy I got my first goal. I’m very happy to be back and playing Premier League again. We have a long way to go, so we’re just trying to build so hopefully we get the results we want and keep working hard.”
“Spurs have good players and are an amazing team. Good luck to them; we will keep working hard,” he told the BBC.
Unai modest after victory
On his part, Unai particularly praised his team’s response and fighting spirit after the victory. “It was a difficult match. But we are happy with how we played and competed,” he said.
“We are delighted for this victory because we needed it. We were underperforming, under points, under our expectations… It was a huge challenge, but we have shown our capacity to get better and perform well. The league is still to go, and we will continue to work to be better.”
The win also marked a personal milestone for the Spaniard, who has now managed five Premier League away games against Tottenham as Villa manager—and won four of them. The feat is more league wins at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium than Spurs’ three most recent managers have managed there combined (3).
