Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026, affecting select areas within Kilifi County in the Coast region.

The utility company published the notice to inform residents and businesses in advance, allowing them to plan their day-to-day activities around the temporary outage. In a social media post sharing the updates, the utility provider noted,

“Good evening, Kindly receive areas scheduled for power maintenance tomorrow, Sunday 6th September 2026,” Kenya Power announced on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

According to the official timetable, the maintenance work aims to upgrade network infrastructure and ensure stable supply across the targeted zones.

Parts of Kilifi Town and Bofa will experience a supply interruption running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Specific locations affected include Kilifi Navy, Baobab Resort, Kilifi KPLC Office, Kilifi County Office, and Kilifi Bay Beach Resort. Other key service points within this zone include Mephi, Kiwadani, Kilifi Prison, Carrefour Supermarket, Naivas Supermarket, and the Kilifi Referral Hospital, alongside neighbouring customers.

Residents who rely on these facilities are encouraged to make early arrangements, particularly with institutions and retail outlets handling perishable items or critical services.

Mariakani region maintenance works

A separate blackout is scheduled for Mariakani, starting at 9:00 am and concluding at 5:00 am.

The power cut in Mariakani will cover Mariakani Town, Bamba, Kadzonzo, Roche, Shreeji, Mariakani Barracks, Weighbridge, Mariakani Police, Mariakani Catholic, Miracle Church, Mkilo, Kalalani, Msufini, World Poles, and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power routinely carries out system maintenance to improve grid reliability and mitigate unscheduled outages across the country. Customers in the affected regions are advised to treat all electrical installations as live during the maintenance period, as power may be restored earlier than indicated.

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, Kenya Power did not issue a notice of the scheduled maintenance. However, on Friday, September 4, 2026, the utility firm listed areas around Nandi, Kisumu, Nyeri and Nakuru counties, with some customers remaining without electricity for several hours during the scheduled maintenance operations.

In Nandi County, the interruption affected Kimwani and surrounding areas, with the power outage scheduled to run from 9:30 am to 5 pm.

Customers in Kimwani, Mberere and adjacent areas have been advised to prepare for the interruption during the maintenance period.
