Blackout to hit several embassies in Nairobi as Kenya Power lists areas set for outage

Kenya Power has alerted residents in select parts of Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, and Bungoma counties to prepare for temporary power disruptions on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The power utility confirmed the scheduled interruptions through a notice published on its official X account, explaining that the outages are necessary for routine system maintenance.
“The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” Kenya Power stated on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Affected locations in Nairobi and Kiambu
In parts of Nairobi County, electricity supply will be turned off between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm.
Sections of Muthaiga earmarked for maintenance include Karura Avenue, Limuru Road, Muthaiga Road, Muthaiga Mini Market, and diplomatic residences, including the Israel Embassy, German Embassy, Belgium Embassy, and Indian High Commission.
In South C, affected places include Kenya Red Cross, KEBS, Toyota Kenya, Next Gen Mall, Eka Hotel, Ole Sereni, KNEC South C, and nearby residential estates such as Mugoya Phase 4 and Al Mubarak.
Parts of Komarock Phase 1, Mihango, and Kayole will also experience blackouts within the same timeframe, affecting Kayole Junction, Matopeni, and Kayole Posta.
Kiambu County will similarly experience outages from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, targeting Ruiru Kimbo and Murera Coffee. Places hit by the interruption include Spur Mall, NIBS, GSU Ruiru, Ruiru Golf Club, Mona Park, Mugutha Police, and adjacent commercial centres.
Power maintenance in Nyeri and Bungoma counties
In Mt. Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County will undergo maintenance from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Affected areas in St. Mary and Majengo include St. Mary’s Senior School, Blue Valley, and Consolata Primary.
In Mary Immaculate, the power cut will affect the County Assembly of Nyeri, Mary Immaculate Hospital, Beatrice Court, and parts of Soko Huru.
In Western Kenya, sections of Bungoma County will experience power cuts across two schedules. Maintenance in Webuye Jaggery and Kapsokwony will run from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, affecting United Millers, Mwalim House, Sirisia, and surrounding customer networks.
Meanwhile, Mabanga and Malakisi areas, including Bungoma Polytechnic, Chwele, Terem Power, and Malakisi town, will face disruptions from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm.
Kenya Power advised customers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements, confirming that power will be restored once the routine network upkeep is completed.
