Kenya Power lists parts of 6 counties to face up to 9-hour power blackout on Monday, September 28, 2026

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance that will leave residents in parts of six counties without electricity for up to nine hours on Monday, September 28, 2026.
The planned shutdowns will affect designated areas across Nairobi, Vihiga, Nandi, Migori, Nyeri, and Kirinyaga counties between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Affected areas in Nairobi, Western, and North Rift
In Nairobi Region, power will be switched off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm along Oloitoktok Road and Riara Road.
The outage will affect parts of Gitanga Road, Mararo, Argwings Khodhek Road, Ole Dume Road, Makindi Road, Ngong Road, Joseph Kangethe Road, and Jamhuri Estate. Disruptions will also extend to Mbaazi Avenue and Hatheru Road.
In Western Region, parts of Vihiga County will experience a blackout in Mudete from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The power cutoff will affect Evojo, Mudete, Lososi, Lusengeli, and Kaimosi Sawmill.
Over in the North Rift Region, Nandi County will face disruptions around Tindiret Tea Factory from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, impacting Chepkemel, Mbogo Valley, and nearby customers.
Outages scheduled for Nyanza and Mt. Kenya regions
In South Nyanza Region, Kenya Power scheduled maintenance work in Migori County covering Kiamokebe and Nyamaranya from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Affected locations include Kiamokebe Centre, Gokeharaka, Ntisinye, Ngugu, Nyamaranya, and parts of Isebania.
In the Mt. Kenya Region, Nyeri County will face two distinct maintenance schedules. The first outage will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, covering Muthinga, Gititu, and Mung’aria.
Key locations listed include Sagana Falls Local Transformer, Ihigaini, Gakoe Coffee Factory, Mung’aria Coffee Factory, Kaigonde, Kangubiri Senior School, Kanderendu, Kanyi Transformer, and Gititu Market Dispensary.
The second schedule in Nyeri, set for 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, covers Sasini and KWS Offices, affecting Lady of Lourdes, Embassy, Njengu, Baraka Estate, and Eunice Academy.
In Kirinyaga County, electricity will be turned off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm across Kangaita and Karaini.
Specific areas affected include Kangaita Tea Factory, Old Kangaita Market, Kiranja Junction, Kiamwangi, Mutuma, and Kamuruana.
Residents and business operators in the affected areas are advised to make prior arrangements before the maintenance period.
