Kenyan-Israeli musician Gilad Millo has celebrated his 55th birthday with a heartfelt message expressing gratitude to God for another year of life.
Millo marked the milestone on Sunday, September 27, 2026, taking to social media to share a brief birthday message with his followers.
“55 & Still Alive 🎉 Nashukuru MUNGU kwa mwaka mwingine 🙏🏽 Happy Birthday to me!” he wrote.
The award-winning singer-songwriter has built a strong following in Kenya and across East Africa, where he is popularly known as the “King of Love” and “Balozi wa Mapenzi” because of his romantic music.
Millo’s journey in Kenya has been distinctive, having transitioned from a diplomatic career to music and eventually becoming a familiar name in the country’s entertainment scene.
He first arrived in Kenya decades ago as a backpacker before later returning to serve as Deputy Head of Mission at the Israeli Embassy in Nairobi.
After leaving the diplomatic corps, Millo pursued music and gained popularity for his Kiswahili songs, winning over Kenyan audiences with his vocals and romantic compositions.
Among his best-known songs are Unajua, featuring Wendy Kimani, and the wedding ballad Sema Milele, which became popular among fans of love and wedding music.
His connection to Kenya later deepened when he officially became a Kenyan citizen in December 2021, following a six-year application process.
At the time, Millo proudly celebrated the milestone, declaring, “Najivunia kuwa Mkenya.”
His musical career has since remained closely associated with Kenya, where he continues to enjoy a loyal audience.
Away from music, the 55-year-old artist also manages a public relations agency in Nairobi. He has additionally ventured into agribusiness, where he is involved in commercial garlic farming.
Millo’s 55th birthday comes as he continues to balance his artistic career, business interests and longstanding connection to Kenya.
