Mungai Eve reveals why she turned to the gym after weight-gain supplements failed

Mungai Eve has revealed why she turned to the gym after weight-gain supplements failed to give her lasting results, saying she wanted to build muscle, maintain her weight and shape her body more sustainably.
The content creator explained that she started gaining weight naturally when she turned 23 in 2023, after spending her teenage years and early 20s weighing around 49kg. However, she said her weight would often stop increasing, prompting her to try supplements to improve her appetite.
“I started gaining weight naturally when I turned 23 in 2023, but my weight would always plateau. I then tried weight-gain supplements, which really helped improve my appetite at the time, but unfortunately, it wasn’t sustainable,” Eve said on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
She explained that whenever she stopped taking the supplements, she would lose the weight she had gained. Eve added that using them too much also led to her gaining more fat than she wanted.

“Whenever I stopped, the weight would come off again, and when I overused them, I ended up gaining too much fat,” Eve said.
Why she chose strength training
Eve said the experience pushed her to consider a different approach to managing her weight. She decided to take up gym workouts to build muscle, maintain her weight and shape her body without relying on supplements.
“That’s when I decided to take the gym route-to build muscle, maintain my weight and shape my body more sustainably,” Eve said.
She also believes age played a role in the changes she experienced, noting that she had maintained a weight of around 49kg for much of her teenage years and early 20s. Eve said her weight began increasing naturally when she was around 23.
“I also think age played a factor. I was around 49kg throughout my teenage years and early 20s, and it was from around 23 that I naturally started gaining weight,” Eve said.
She added that her current approach to maintaining her body involves a combination of age, nutrition and strength training.
“So for me, it’s been a combination of age, nutrition and strength training,” Eve said.
Eve on learning to appreciate her body
Eve said she has always loved her body, regardless of changes in her weight and shape. She explained that her experiences with health challenges have taught her to appreciate her body and take better care of it.

“One thing about me: I looove my body! I’ve always loved it through every season, when I was underweight, when I gained a little weight, and now that I’m lean,” Eve said.
She added that her body has carried her through different stages of life, teaching her to listen to it and treat it with care.
