Liz Jackson defends legal businesses, says no one chooses where they are born

Content creator Liz Jackson has shared her thoughts on migration, business opportunities and the freedom of people to work legally, saying individuals should not be judged based on their country of origin.
In a post shared today, Jackson argued that nobody chooses where they are born and that anyone who follows the law should be allowed to pursue opportunities wherever they are.
“I think if somebody is legally Kenyan, their legal work, hawezi zuia mtu kufanya biashara, nobody chose where you want to be born,” Jackson said, questioning why people should be restricted from doing business because of their background.
She noted that movement across borders is a reality worldwide, adding that Kenyans themselves have built lives and businesses in different countries.
Kenyans are everywhere
Jackson highlighted the global presence of Kenyans, sharing her surprise after visiting Comoros and discovering Kenyans who had established businesses there.
“Nilienda Comoros, nikapatana na Wakenya wamefungua biashara huko, I was so shocked,” she said.
She explained that despite Comoros having different languages and cultures, some Kenyans have managed to adapt by speaking French, Comorian and Swahili while contributing to the local economy.
According to Jackson, the same opportunities that Kenyans seek abroad should also be extended to other people who come to Kenya legally and follow the required regulations.
“Kenya is everywhere. Our people are everywhere,” she stated, adding that entrepreneurship and migration have always been part of society.
Fair regulations and African unity
Jackson urged people to focus on proper regulation instead of targeting individuals who are legally working or running businesses.
She suggested that conversations should centre around issues such as minimum wage regulations and ensuring investors from different parts of the world follow labour laws.
“Some people have chosen to work but to be away from town. So let working immigrants do their job, legally,” she said.
Jackson also called for unity among Africans, expressing pride in the continent and emphasizing that opportunities should not be limited by borders.
“Love to all Africans. I love all Africans, I love Africa. Like, yo, I am a proud African,” she shared.
Her remarks come amid continued conversations around foreign businesses, employment opportunities and the role of migrant workers in different economies.
