ODM Party leader Raila Odinga has condoled with Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi following the death of her son Elvis Murakana Namenya on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

In a statement on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Raila assured the legislator that while he could not feel the exact pain she is going through, she should draw inspiration that he is together with her in spirit.

“I know you are heartbroken and I know your world has turned inside out following the death of your son, Elvis Murakana Namenya,” Raila said.

“We don’t, indeed we can’t carry the weight you carry in your heart and body right now. Even though we feel your pain, we can’t feel it in the exact way you do. But be assured, you are not alone. Be assured that we know the strength of the pain you are struggling with currently, and we wish we could shoulder it for you.”

Together in spirit

The former prime minister equally urged the legislator to stay strong despite the huge setback she and her family have had, noting that she must overcome the agony of losing her son.

“Draw some strength from the assurance that we are with you in spirit, thought and prayer. We wish to see you heal and be your vibrant self again. I believe your son would wish you that. You shall overcome; indeed, you must overcome. You owe Elvis that. And we will walk with you on the journey until you overcome and recover fully,” Raila added.

This comes after President William Ruto extended condolence messages to the Dagoretti North legislator on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, when the news broke that Elvis Murakana had passed on.

Ruto mourns Elvis

In the Tuesday evening statement, Ruto prayed for strength for the family to bear with the loss of Elvis.

“May God grant Mheshimiwa Beatrice Elachi and the family strength to bear with the loss of their dear son, Elvis Murakana. Be comforted by the word of the Lord in Psalm 147:3: He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds,” Ruto’s statement read.

Other leaders who equally condoled with Elachi included Kileleshwa ward MCA Robert Alai, who broke the news of the death of Elachi’s fourth child.

“As the MCA for Kileleshwa Ward, I join the people of Dagoreti North and beyond in mourning this profound loss. Losing a child is an unimaginable pain, and my thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time,” Alai’s statement read.

“May you find strength and solace in the love and support that surrounds you. Elvis, your fourth child, will forever remain in our hearts and memories. On behalf of the Kileleshwa Ward community, I offer our unwavering support and prayers for you and your family as you navigate this grief.”
