Neno Evangelism head preacher Pastor James Ng’ang’a has sent a stern warning to Christians who pledge to give tithes and offerings in church but vanish without fulfilling their promises.

Speaking during his Thursday, September 18, 2025, devotional service, the preacher noted that many believers flock to churches but fail to seek God sincerely, adding that the spirit of the devil distracts them from focusing on true worship.

He explained that such behaviour has led to Christians being caught up in endless struggles because they have not kept the altar pure.

“Why is it that many people do not see God? Because even when they come, they are not seeking something to glorify Him with. The devil removes people from the spirit of God and puts them in the spirit of wandering,” he said.

Ng’ang’a said that in his view, the majority of Christians have lost boundaries in matters of faith, admitting that many no longer differentiate what is acceptable in Christianity.

He stated that this is the reason he believes 99 per cent of Christians are liars, pointing to those who make promises to the church and do not honour them.

“Ninety-nine percent of it is because they have not kept the altar and because of negligence. Ninety-nine per cent of Christians are liars. And many of them have no boundaries in things, they cannot say this is not for Christianity or cut off certain practices or clothes because they are not of Christianity.”

He observed that some believers even move from one church to another, raising their hands to pledge large sums of money, yet they end up never giving anything.

According to him, some of these people even keep unfulfilled offering envelopes at home while continuing to make more empty pledges elsewhere.

“Others, when they make a promise to give a certain amount of money to the church, they do not give. They leave here and go to another church, and when they are asked how many will give thousands, they raise their hands. And they will not give. And they have envelopes in their houses,” he said.

Missionary

The controversial preacher further clarified that his ministry should not be mistaken for a typical church.

He stressed that he is not a pastor in the conventional sense but rather a missionary and evangelist who prioritises crusades as his calling. He noted that those who choose to support him do so as part of his evangelism work, citing his recent mission in Siakago, Embu, where he held a crusade.

“I even want my followers to know that I am not a pastor and mine is not a church. I am a missionary, I am an evangelist, I go for crusades. If it is supported, people support me there. Because I cannot just sit here in church. Recently, I went to Siakago, Embu, to preach,” he added.
