Leopards outshine Nairobi United as Ingwe new signing Musa Ceesay impresses

AFC Leopards’ fine pre-season run continued as Ingwe downed Nairobi United 3–1 in a friendly clash staged on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Police Sacco Grounds in Nairobi.
Goals from new signing Musa Ceesay and midfielder Tyson Otieno added to an own goal to complete a comfortable pre-season victory for Fred Ambani’s charges against Patrick Aussems’ coached side.
Ambani fielded new signing Musa Kanteh alongside Mousa Oundo and Boniface Munyendo in midfield, a tactical choice that proved spot-on as the new arrival put on a dominant first-half display. Tyson Otieno and James Kinyanjui joined Gambian import Ceesay in the attacking arsenal.
Ceesay put Ingwe in front
Ingwe took the lead just five minutes in when Ceesay grabbed his third pre-season goal with a neat finish. The striker, who was on target during Leopards’ pre-season camp in Nakuru, continued his rich goal-scoring streak for the club.
The scorer turned provider as the opening half waned. Demonstrating immense strength and awareness, Ceesay held up play brilliantly before threading a neat pass to Otieno, who made it 2–0.
The high-flying side could have been 3–0 up before the break, but Brian Ojok’s effort from the edge of the 18-yard box crashed off the crossbar.
Fred Ambani opted for multiple alterations on the hour mark, sending on Samuel Ssenyonjo, Eric Balecho, and Victor Otieno in place of Ceesay, Kinyanjui, and Munyendo.
The team remained dominant after the changes and was rewarded with a third goal when an effort from Otieno was fortuitously turned in for an own goal.
The victory continues Ingwe’s excellent preparations for the new season, adding to their victories against Tanzania’s Pamba Jiji and Kakamega Homeboyz at the Bukhungu Stadium.
