Ronaldo’s partner Georgina explains why their wedding was held in their living room

Georgina Rodriguez has explained why she and Cristiano Ronaldo chose to hold their wedding in the living room of their home, saying they wanted the day to remain private and centred around their family.
The couple, who have spent much of their relationship under intense public attention, chose an intimate ceremony instead of a large celebrity wedding. Their decision came as no surprise to those familiar with Rodriguez’s approach to family life, with the model often speaking about the importance of keeping their children close.
Explaining the unusual choice of venue, Rodriguez said the living room was where the family already spends much of its time, from having meals to simply being together.
“We’ve chosen to do it in the living room of our house here, where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives,” she said.
For Rodriguez, the setting also offered something that money cannot easily buy: privacy.
The couple already have access to luxury homes, cars, holidays and other trappings of their wealth. Rodriguez said that while she once dreamed of a grand wedding with a castle and a long dress, her priorities had changed.
“I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home,” she said.

She also wanted the wedding to become a lasting family memory rather than simply another major event in the couple’s highly documented lives.
“In 30 years’ time I want the children to think, Something wonderful happened at this table—the wedding vows of our parents,” she said.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, managed to bring some humour to the sentimental moment, pointing out that the table itself might not last that long.
“It probably won’t be the same table. We might change the decor,” he joked.
August 11
The couple’s wedding also marked a significant date in their relationship. They chose August 11, 10 years after their first meeting at a Gucci store in Madrid.
Rodriguez was working at the store when Ronaldo walked in with his eldest son, Cristiano Jr. She had not originally been scheduled to work that day but was covering for a colleague.
Looking back at their meeting, Rodriguez described it as “destiny”, while Ronaldo recalled immediately noticing her.
The couple have since built a large family, with their children playing an important role in their lives. Rodriguez said they would be at the centre of the wedding, describing them as “protagonists” in the couple’s daily life.
The wedding also had a strong connection to Gucci, with both Ronaldo and Rodriguez wearing outfits from the fashion house where their relationship began.
Rodriguez wore a white silk skirt suit and matching shoes, while Ronaldo opted for a light beige suit.
The couple later travelled to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima for a blessing, before returning to their family life and Ronaldo’s football commitments.
There was no traditional honeymoon because Ronaldo had to return to Saudi Arabia for the new football season.
