Eko Dydda criticises the culture of shaming successful Christians

Gospel musician Eko Dydda has criticised what he describes as a growing culture of judging successful Christians, saying many believers are quick to celebrate hardship but become uncomfortable when someone shares their victories.
The rapper shared his thoughts in a video posted on his Instagram page on Tuesday, August 4, where he questioned why Christians are often criticised for displaying the blessings they believe God has given them.
According to Eko Dydda, many people seem to accept stories of struggle more easily than stories of success.
‘Why is victory seen as a bad thing?’
Speaking in the video, the gospel artiste wondered why some Christians associate success with pride or showing off instead of seeing it as evidence of answered prayers.
He said believers should not feel guilty about celebrating the victories they have worked and prayed for.
“My brothers and sisters in Christ, why do people think victory is something demonic or that celebrating God’s blessings is showing off? Why is it that when a Christian succeeds, people see it as a bad thing?” Eko Dydda said.
He explained that when Christians are going through difficult times, they often receive encouragement and support from fellow believers.
‘People celebrate your struggles but question your success’
The musician noted that many Christians openly share moments of prayer and hardship on social media without criticism.
However, he argued that once those prayers are answered and someone begins enjoying the fruits of their efforts, the reaction changes. “When you post yourself crying and praying for God to come through, everyone supports you. But when God answers those prayers, and you are finally happy, people say you are showing off. Why?” he posed.
Eko Dydda maintained that there is nothing wrong with celebrating answered prayers, adding that success should never be treated as something shameful.
Success should inspire others
The rapper also questioned why some believers become uncomfortable when Christians look successful, dress well, or enjoy a comfortable lifestyle.
According to him, being blessed should not automatically lead to accusations of pride or dishonesty. “Winning looks good on a Christian. You prayed, you worked hard, and God answered your prayers. Why should anyone have a problem with you sharing that?” he said.
He further challenged those who believe Christians should always appear to be struggling, saying faith should also be reflected in testimonies of growth and answered prayers.
Calls for a change in mindset
As he concluded his message, Eko Dydda urged Christians to rethink how they respond to the success of fellow believers.
He questioned why hardship is sometimes viewed as more spiritual than prosperity, insisting that God’s blessings should also be celebrated.
“Why do we think struggling is more godly while success is seen as something wrong? If God answers our prayers, shouldn’t we celebrate His goodness instead of hiding it?” he asked.
His remarks have sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that testimonies of success can inspire hope, while others argued that believers should celebrate their achievements with humility.
