The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has warned parents and candidates of a scheme promising to change Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) results.
In a statement on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, KNEC flagged a notice promising to change KCSE grades to B+ (plus) and above and also alter KPSEA results.
The flagged poster created to hoodwink unsuspecting parents and students claimed that KNEC computer experts and officials had opened a Telegram channel to receive requests and moderate the 2024 national exams.
It further claimed that all administrators of the said channel had access to the KNEC portal and were in a position to alter grades.
However, KNEC warned parents against falling victim to the scam scheme.
Earlier, KNEC had also exposed a fake account bearing its colours and official emblems aimed at misleading parents and students.
The examination council advised all education stakeholders to get communication from only their verified channels.
KPSEA results released
The warning came hours after KNEC released the KPSEA 2024 results. In a notice on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, the examination council announced that the results had been uploaded on its Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal.
Schools that presented candidates for the assessment were advised to log into the portal and access the learner-specific reports.
“Update! The 2024 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) reports are ready and have been uploaded on the CBA portal,” KNEC announced.
KPSEA was administered between October 28 and November 1, 2024, with a total of 1,303,913 Grade 6 students across Kenya sitting for the exam.
The exams covered a range of subjects, including Mathematics, English, Integrated Science, Kiswahili, Creative Arts, and Social Studies
All the 1,303,913 candidates who sat the KPSEA across 35,573 centres countrywide will transition to Grade 7, which is still domiciled within their respective primary schools.
The KPSEA is a transitional assessment that evaluates students’ understanding and application of skills.
KCSE results will however be released on a later date, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced.
