The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned 30 individuals over the irregular sale of Athi River land belonging to East African Portland Cement (EAPC) where demolitions are ongoing.
Among those summoned include Movoko MP Patrick Makau who has been directed to appear before the DCI on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
According to the DCI, the MP and 29 individuals could have vital information which could help unmask the masterminds behind the fraud which saw thousands buy the land illegally.
“These individuals are hereby directed to report to the Officer-In-Charge of the Land Fraud Investigations Unit at DCI Headquarters tomorrow, 18th October 2023, at 8 am. It is the responsibility of the DCI to ensure that justice prevails, and the laws of the land are Protected,” Ireri Kamwende, Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations, stated.
Others summoned by the crimebusters include officials of the Aimi ma Lukenya Society, members of Kitanda na Mbusya Society, former Deputy County Commissioners Charles Wambugu, David Juma and Geoffrey Omondi and former police officers in the area and government officials.
Kamwende has called upon the affected members of the public to report to the Athi River Police Station immediately, carrying along any documentation or evidence in their possession that would aid in apprehending the land fraudsters, especially evidence of payments made to individuals who sold them land.

Kamwende said the crimebusters have established desks at the Athi River Police Station to collect relevant information and evidence that will aid in the investigations.
“We will work round the clock, recording statements from all aggrieved Kenyans who may have been swindled out of their money. Rest assured that this exercise will culminate in action against these swindlers as the DCI aims to send a strong signal that these actions mark the end of land fraudsters’ heyday in Kenya,” Kamwende stated.
“The DCI wishes to assure those affected that any information they provide will be treated with utmost confidentiality, and their security will be guaranteed.”
This comes even as demolitions enter the fifth day amid calls for an amicable solution to prevent further losses.
