Julien Mette hints at inviting AFC Leopards fans to support Tusker’s continental charge

Tusker FC coach Julien Mette has joked about extending an invite to AFC Leopards fans to back the Brewers on the continental stage if he wins the FKF Cup and books a ticket to the continental game.
Speaking after suffering only his second league defeat since taking over, the Frenchman was full of praise for Ingwe, despite the fierce rivalry between the two clubs. He described AFC Leopards as one of the best sides in the division.
Good team
“Leopards have many good players; I do not say they are capable of scoring at any time. It is a solid side with a great fan base,” Mette stated.
Mette, whose arrival at the Ruaraka-based club has been instrumental in turning their fortunes around, admitted it was a pity to see Tusker’s league title ambitions fade due to a disastrous start to the season.
Tusker title prospects
“We are competitors. As I said when I arrived after the loss to Shabana, the league was already over. It has been a long time since the league was over for Tusker, but we have to admit it. But we are still on the road to winning the Cup,” he explained.

With league giants Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards already knocked out of the FKF Cup by minnows BB Bread, Mette believes Tusker has a golden opportunity to secure the trophy and the subsequent ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup.
Continental push
“Leopards and Gor, the best teams in Kenya, are out, and we have a chance to take it a hundred per cent. If we win the Cup and play in the Confederation Cup next year, I will invite them [Leopards fans] to support us for the good of Kenya,” he added with a smile.
His remarks come as the draw for the premier knockout competition is scheduled to be conducted on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Mette’s team, Police FC, Shabana FC, and Nairobi United are among the top-flight teams in contention for the silverware.
