Salasya reveals plans to return to school to learn English

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has revealed that he will return to school to improve his language skills, starting with English.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the MP said that in addition to English, he plans to study French and German. Salasya explained that the language lessons are part of his preparations before enrolling for his master’s degree in April.
He added that although he doesn’t enjoy reading much, he prefers short notes to make studying more manageable.
“I will enrol on my further studies ….. to improve on languages, that’s English, French and German, before I enrol in my master’s in April. Niko na akili mingi but nataka nipate akili pia ya kitabu, though i dont like reading so much natakanga short notes 😅”

Salasya also attached his KCSE results, which revealed that he scored a B plain in English
Education Background
Salasya has previously shared his educational background to confirm his qualifications. Back in 2024, he revealed that he holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Banking and Finance from Egerton University, graduating with a second-class honours, lower division.
He explained that his grade reflected the heavy responsibilities he carried as a student leader during his studies.

The youthful lawmaker emphasised that his degree certifies his eligibility to contest for the Kakamega County gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
“I am now ready to go for the Governor of Kakamega County. They were doubting my education,” Salasya said when he publicly shared his degree certificate.
The youthful lawmaker has in the past often been on the receiving end of criticism regarding his intellectual capacity. In 2025, he was forced to respond to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who had mocked him during a discussion with Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda over the 10-point MoU between Ruto and Raila.
Sifuna had told Ojienda not to behave like Salasya and urged him to read the document carefully to understand it.
Salasya responded by saying that having too much English should not make someone arrogant and that legal matters should be handled in court rather than in politics, adding that he also holds a university degree in banking and finance.
