Andrew Kibe reveals Salasya fight plans, explains why Obinna is no longer involved

Andrew Kibe has revealed fresh details about his planned boxing match with Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, saying the highly anticipated fight is set to take place in December.
Kibe made the revelation in an interview posted on Friday, September 4, 2026, while discussing the proposed bout, confirming that preparations are already underway.
“In December, I’m going to be getting into a boxing ring with Salasya,” Kibe said.
When asked whether he had signed the agreement, Kibe said he was ready to do so, revealing that the contract was already on his phone.
Kibe explains why Obinna is out
The proposed fight was initially associated with media personality Oga Obinna and his Vurugu 3 event.
However, Kibe revealed that the arrangement had changed and that Obinna would no longer be involved in the event.
According to Kibe, the fight will instead be handled by a different outfit, with the organisers exploring an escrow arrangement.
“We’ve gone a different way,” Kibe said.
He explained that Obinna had wanted the two to fight at his event but claimed the financial offer was not attractive enough.
“He wanted us to fight in his event and give us some small chums,” Kibe said.
Kibe argued that the fight could generate significantly more money if staged through another platform.
“There’s a lot of money to be made in that shit. Why would I go give my whole birthright to Obinna?” he said.
Kibe confirmed that Obinna was no longer part of the arrangement.
“Obinna is out. I don’t want to work with him. Same idea, but different platform,” he said.
Kibe preparing for Salasya showdown
Despite the change in organisers, Kibe maintained that his fight with Salasya remains on course for December.
He said he would begin full training on Monday as he prepares for the bout.
Kibe revealed that he will train with Barak Jacuzzi and work with Jacuzzi’s trainer ahead of the contest.
“You have to,” Kibe said when asked whether he planned to undergo serious training for the fight.
The 50-year-old also appeared confident about facing Salasya despite the difference in their ages.
“But I don’t feel 50,” Kibe said.
He also highlighted his reach as one of the factors he believes could work in his favour during the contest.
Obinna had backed the fight
Obinna had previously played a major role in promoting the proposed Salasya-Kibe showdown.
He had publicly encouraged Kibe to accept Salasya’s challenge and had pledged an initial Ksh2 million purse for the fight.
Obinna also suggested that sponsorship could push the prize money to Ksh5 million if the contest went ahead.
