Boina recounts how she discovered suspicious payments at her business after closing it

Content creator Boina recounted discovering suspicious payments at her former business after she had already decided to close it.
In an Instagram video on Friday, September 25, 2026, Boina said she ran a shop in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) but eventually shut it down as she became increasingly busy with content creation and her personal life.
She explained that the business was not making losses, but she had reached a point where she felt it was time to let it go.
Why Boina closed the business
Boina said she had started thinking about closing the business because of her busy schedule and the demands of her content career.
However, she remained attached to the business and continued operating it until around August or September before finally closing it.
“I wasn’t making losses, but I had just decided that I had closed it,” she said.
According to Boina, she later travelled to Europe, where she received a message from one of her former clients that raised questions about payments being made at the business.
Client’s message raises questions
Boina said the client informed her that he had visited the shop and received services but had been advised not to send payment to a particular number.
The client’s message prompted her to contact the receptionist to find out what was happening.
Boina said the receptionist explained that, in her absence, she had been asking customers to send payments to another number to help cover expenses that required cash flow.

At first, Boina said the explanation appeared to make sense.
However, another message she received two days later left her with more questions.
More questions over payments
Boina said she later received a payment-related message from another woman working at the business, despite the receptionist already being involved in directing payments.
“I’m just there like, oh okay, so this one is sending the money but also this one is sending the money,” she recounted.
The situation left Boina questioning why more than one person appeared to be involved in directing customer payments.
