Mumias East Member of Parliamnet (MP) Peter Salasya has questioned why his appearance at the ongoing Rhema Feast 2026 edition at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, has not attracted the same attention as videos of him partying or drinking alcohol.

In a statement after attending the third day of the Christian event on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Salasya appeared to challenge Kenyans to also notice and acknowledge him when he takes part in faith-based activities.

Hapa hamuezi sema niko sawa na mu ni encourage niendelee mumenyamaza tu. Wacha munipate kwa pombe ama kwa sherehe mahali sasa ndio museme yote ni sawa. Nishawajua,” Salasya said.

His remarks appeared to suggest that his activities at entertainment spots often generate more discussion online, while his presence at a Christian event receives less attention.

Faith and Mumias East development

Salasya has also linked his faith to the development he says is taking place in his Mumias East constituency.

“Mumias East is witnessing transformation because we believe that when God is at the centre of leadership, nothing is impossible,” he said.

“A prayerful leader does not only see challenges; they seek God for wisdom, direction and understanding. Through prayer, God gives the vision, and through strategic action, that vision becomes a blessing to the people.”

According to the MP, residents are already witnessing changes across the constituency.

“Today, development is being seen left, right and centre in Mumias East. Doors are opening, opportunities are emerging, and breakthroughs are taking place. We give God all the glory,” he said.

Salasya said the progress was being driven by both faith and practical action.

“The progress we are witnessing is built on two powerful foundations: FAITH and ACTION. We pray as we plan, we believe as we work, and we trust God as we serve His people,” he said.

Quoting Proverbs 16:3, he added: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Salasya further said, “Mumias East is not moving by human strength alone. We believe God is ordering our steps, giving wisdom to your leader, and opening the way for greater transformation.”

He concluded with a prayer for his constituents, saying: “May God continue to bless Mumias East, guide its leadership, strengthen its people, and establish every good plan designed for the transformation of our community.”

“Faith in God. Vision for the people. Action for transformation,” Salasya said.
