NTSA warns vehicle owners to collect logbooks or risk disposal

The National Transport and Safety Authority has issued a public notice reminding motor vehicle owners that printed logbooks not collected will not be held indefinitely. Posted on their official X account, the notice sets a six-month deadline.
After that window closes, NTSA says it will dispose of any uncollected logbooks in line with its policy, and getting a replacement will not be as simple as walking in and asking for one.

Why you cannot afford to ignore this
Beyond the inconvenience of losing a printed logbook, NTSA made clear that the stakes are higher than many people may realise. The authority warned that clients “will not be able to access services that require a copy of the logbook without attaching the current/original logbook in their application.”
Plainly, if you need any NTSA service that involves your logbook and you don’t have it, you could find yourself stuck. That covers a wide range of transactions, including vehicle transfers and other ownership-related processes.
So if your logbook has been ready for a while, it’s time to go pick
What you need to bring when you go
The good news is that the collection is free. NTSA says all you need to carry is your previous logbook and a valid identification document for verification purposes.
All NTSA offices are open Monday to Friday, so you have the full working week to sort this out. Huduma Centres are also an option if your nearest NTSA office is far or inconvenient.
This notice comes just a day after Kenya officially retired the paper logbook on June 10, 2026, with all motor vehicle registration certificates now issued digitally through the eLogbook system on eCitizen. If you have not yet sorted out your eLogbook either, now is a good time to handle both in one go.
