Suba North Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo has addressed the controversy surrounding Oketch Salah with her take on a series of actions that the latter should consider.

Millie raised pertinent questions via a statement on her official social media platforms, noting that, assuming it is true that Salah was very close to Raila Odinga, nothing would change.

The outspoken lawmaker questioned whether Salah’s closeness with Raila would fix challenges facing the country, including fixing the Social Health Authority (SHA), among others.

Assuming it is true that Salah was very close to our departed leader, Raila, what next? Will it have an impact on litmus paper? How will it fix CBC or SHA? Will it cause Baba to come back?” Millie stated.

Millie Odhiambo’s take

Millie laid out the steps she would take if she were in Salah’s situation, in which his association with Raila’s family is in question.

The lawmaker noted that under the circumstances, she would not bother those who do not want to associate with her.

She added that she would quietly identify those who want to associate with her and forge alliances in peace.

“If I were him, I would quietly pick those in the family who wish to continue associating and forge alliances. I would let those who do not want to associate with me be,” Millie stated.

She questioned the heat generated by the Salah saga, questioning whether there is a trophy to be won.

Uwii mar Sala en mar okombe? Koso wago nam duster? (Is there a trophy to be won in this hullaballoo about Salah? Should we mop the lake?)” Millie added.

Winnie’s intervew

Focus shifted to Salah after Winnie Odinga’s interview with a local TV station, in which the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP stated that she believes nobody really knows him.

Winnie also dismissed Salah as a serial liar and questioned his intentions, adding that he should be rushed to Mathare or to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“I have met Oketch Salah, but I’d like to believe nobody really knows him. A flat-out lie that you were there at the time of my father’s death and you were not, and talking about things that did not occur, is quite dangerous and makes me question his intentions,” Winnie said.
