Transfer rumours: Liverpool eye more signings as Jadon Sancho’s career uncertainty continues

Premier League side Liverpool FC could be back in the market for more defensive signings, according to the latest transfer rumours on Monday, September 14, 2026.
The Reds have suffered preseason injuries, notably losing Joe Gomez to a muscle injury during their preseason win over Sunderland.
Young full-back Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, and Giovanni Leoni also remain sidelined as they continue to recover from injuries.

Beyond defense, the Reds are said to be lining up a move for Bournemouth’s Brazilian forward Rayan, 20, next summer. Despite securing the move for Bradley Barcola in the big summer transfer move from PSG, Liverpool are willing to meet the player’s release clause that will become active in 2027.
Replacements
This comes after one of their defensive targets, Pierre Kalulu, appears set to stay at Juventus. The Frenchman had been the subject of interest from both the Merseyside club and Manchester United.
As part of plans to find a replacement following Konate’s departure, the Reds are also said to be looking to make Ronald Araujo’s deal a permanent one.
The 27-year-old Uruguayan joined the Reds on loan this season, and Andoni Iraola’s men have the option to trigger a buy clause to make the transfer permanent.

Meanwhile, uncertainty continues to mount around Jadon Sancho. The former Manchester City academy graduate left Manchester United when his contract expired at the end of June 2026.
No deal yet for Sancho!
Efforts by his agent to secure a new club for the winger proved futile, with talks alongside multiple Premier League clubs over a potential move falling through.
This follows a move by Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac, who ruled out the possibility of re-signing the 26-year-old.
Sancho is currently evaluating his next career move, having spent a previous period on loan at Aston Villa and drawing sporadic links with potential interest from other clubs in Europe.
The Reds’ backline saw a number of exits after last season, with Andy Robertson, who joined Spurs on a free, among the exits, and Ibrahima Konate leaving the club.
Scottish defender Calvin Ramsay also left the club for a return home to St Mirren as he searches for more playing opportunities.
