Khalwale celebrates daughter’s impressive performance in 2025 KCSE

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has celebrated his daughter, Melissa Khamwenyi Khalwale, following her successful performance in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, which has earned her the qualification to join a university.

In a statement on Friday, January 9, 2026, Khalwale expressed pride and gratitude as his daughter prepares to take the next academic step. 

He thanked St Brigid High School–Kiminini for nurturing Melissa throughout her secondary school journey, acknowledging the role the school community played in her academic growth and discipline.

“As my daughter, Melissa Khamwenyi Khalwale, shines all the way to the university, I want to thank the St Brigid High School–Kiminini fraternity and my family for the support they bestowed on her in her studies. Above all, I thank God for the gift of my little girl,” Khalwale said.

Melissa attained a mean grade of B minus in the 2025 KCSE examinations, a score that qualifies her for university admission under the current placement guidelines.

 Her individual subject results reflect a balanced performance across the curriculum, with an A minus in English, B plus in Kiswahili, B minus in Biology and Christian Religious Education (CRE), C plain in Chemistry and Geography, and C minus in Mathematics.

This comes shortly after the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) released the 2025 KCSE results that saw a total of 1,932 candidates score straight A’s in the exam, while 270,000 candidates achieved C+ and above, qualifying them for direct university entry.

Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba on Friday, January 9, 2026, stated that 993,226 students sat for the exams, up from 962,512 in 2024, marking an increase of 30,714 candidates.

Female candidates continue to outnumber male candidates for the second consecutive year, with 501,214 females compared to 492,012 males. The number of students achieving an overall mean grade A (plain) also increased slightly to 1,932 (0.19%) from 1,693 (0.18%) in 2024.

Candidates can access their individual results online through the KNEC website by entering their index number and any of their names as per the registration data.
