Kenya Power announces power outages in parts of Nairobi and 6 other counties on Thursday, August 27

Kenya Power has announced temporary power interruptions in parts of Nairobi and six other counties on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The utility company confirmed that the blackout is part of routine network maintenance aimed at improving supply reliability across the affected regions.
In an official statement published on X on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the electricity distributor advised customers to prepare for the temporary shutdown.
The company wrote: “The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (27th August 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations.”
Affected regions in Nairobi, Mt Kenya, and Coast
The maintenance schedule shows that parts of Nairobi Region will experience outages between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
In Imara Daima, affected locations include Maziwa Stage, M-Gas Mukuru Depot, Villa Police Station, Wapewape Road, Embakasi Girls, Muindi Mweusi Supermarket, Mukuru kwa Njenga, Chaminade, St. Mary’s Hospital, Kware Police Post, and Pipeline Chairmans.
The Kilimani and Ngong Road areas will also be affected within the same timeframe, covering parts of Ngong Road, Muchai Drive, Coptic Hospital, China Centre, Kabarnet Road, School of Nursing, City Oil, National Oil, Uchumi, Ngong Road Hotel, and Bishop Magua.
Additionally, Oloitoktok Road and Ole Dume Road will experience interruptions covering Argwings Kodhek Road, Elgeyo Marakwet Road, Methodist Guest House, Muringa Road, Kirichwa Road, Menelik Road, Quickmart Kilimani, Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Green House, Double Tree Hotel, Quivers Kilimani, and Adams Arcade.
In Mt. Kenya and Coast regions, power will be off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Murang’a County areas including Gakurwe, Mugeka, Gaturi, and Mukurwe will be affected.
Laikipia County areas such as Chumvi and Doldo will experience blackouts from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, while Moyale and Butiye face interruptions from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
In Coast Region, Changamwe, Magongo, and Port Reitz in Mombasa will be off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Impact across Western, South Nyanza, and North Eastern regions
In Western Region, parts of Kisumu County including KESREF and Great Lakes University will be out between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
South Nyanza Region will see Kehancha and Taranganya in Migori County affected from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
In North Eastern Region, parts of Kiambu County, including Komo, Munyu, Magana, Carbacid, Kimende, Gitithia, Kamathiitu, and Musosya Secondary, will experience maintenance blackouts between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
