Kenya Power lists parts of 9 counties set for planned blackouts on Tuesday, September 15

Kenya Power has announced a countrywide maintenance exercise that will cut electricity supply in several regions on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The exercise falls under Kenya Power’s routine network upgrade programme, aimed at keeping the grid stable for customers across the country.
Nairobi, Kajiado and North Rift counties
In Nairobi, part of Langata and Royal Park Estate will go without power from 9 am to 5 pm. The outage covers KMA, St Mary’s Hospital, GK Prisons Sunvalley Estate, Otiende Estate and adjacent customers.
Kajiado County’s Kimuka and Maragara areas follow a similar schedule, running from 8.30 am to 5 pm, affecting Ololaioser, Ngere Road, Maragara Road, Booster Road, Olemontet, Bella, Baboon Crescent, Kimuka, Saikeri and Oloshobor.
Over in the North Rift, West Pokot’s Sarmach, Nasolot and Karon areas will experience a longer outage, from 10 am to 5 pm, hitting Sarmach Market, Nasolot and Karon Centre.
In Kisumu County, Keda Ceramics and adjacent customers will be without power between 8 am and 5 pm.
Mt Kenya and Coast regions also affected
The Mt Kenya region carries the heaviest load of outages. In Kirinyaga County, Kianyaga and Rukenya, including Kianyaga Town, Rwambiti Market, Rukenya Market, Kathata, Kianyaga Hospital and parts of Kutus Town, will lose power from 9 am to 5 pm.
Tharaka Nithi’s Ngunga Market area, including Ngunga and Karambari primary schools, faces the same hours.
Nyeri County sees two separate outages within the same window, one covering Sangare Milk Plant, Endarasha and Kanyagia, and another taking in Thangathi, Kiuu and Ithanji, including Ngoru, Kihate, Mutwewathi and nearby schools.
At the Coast, Kwale County’s Diani area, including Tandoori, University of Nairobi, Manyatta and Two Fishes, will be affected from 9 am to 5 pm, while Kasemeni’s outage runs shorter, from 9 am to noon.
In Mombasa County, the whole of Miritini, covering Doshi Miritini, Axel Lubes, Kilimanjaro Biscuits and Mombasa Water Offices Bonje, will also go dark for the day.
Kenya Power has urged affected customers to plan ahead before the outages begin.
