Kenya Met: Cold and cloudy conditions to continue across the country
The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast continued cold and cloudy conditions across various parts of the country for the week of June 23 to June 29, 2026.
In its weekly outlook, issued on Monday, June 22, 2026, the weatherman says intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley, and Northeastern Kenya.
“Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley & Northeastern Kenya,” Kenya Met announced.
The department also notes that rainfall is expected in several regions, including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Coast region, and parts of northeastern Kenya.
“Rainfall is expected over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Coast and parts of Northeastern Kenya,” the weatherman stated.
Regions to experience rain and cold
According to the weatherman, rain will fall in several regions over the next seven days.
Counties in western Kenya, including Kakamega, Bungoma, and Trans Nzoia, will see consistent rainfall, as will central areas like Nyandarua and Nyeri. Carrying an umbrella throughout the week is a good idea if you are in these zones.

Alongside the rain, some regions will face very cold nights. The minimum temperature map shows that night temperatures will drop below 10°C in a few places within the Central Rift Valley, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

In counties like Nyandarua, Nyeri, and Kirinyaga, the temperatures will even plunge below 8°C. Nairobi and Kiambu will also experience chilly nights, with temperatures averaging between 10°C and 15°C, making warm bedding necessary.
Hot daytime weather
While the highlands deal with the chill, it is a completely different story for people living in northern and coastal Kenya.
The maximum temperature forecast map shows that daytime averages will go above 30°C in northwestern, northeastern, and coastal regions.
“Daytime (maximum) average temperatures of more than 30°C are expected in some parts of the coast, northeastern and northwestern Kenya,” Kenya Met added.

Places like Turkana, Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa will experience the highest temperatures. Some parts of Turkana, particularly near Lokitaung, will see daytime heat heading past 35°C.
Coastal towns, including Lamu and Mombasa, will also average between 25°C and 30°C. If you are in these warmer northern and coastal zones, staying hydrated is important.
