CCTV captures terrifying moment armed gang stormed Westlands hotel and robbed diners

Newly emerged CCTV footage has revealed the terrifying moments when three armed robbers stormed a popular hotel in Nairobi’s Westlands area late on Saturday night, calmly terrorising customers before making away with mobile phones, wallets and other valuables in a brazen robbery that unfolded within minutes.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:35 p.m. (22:35 hours) on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at a time when the restaurant was bustling with customers enjoying their meals and conversations.

The surveillance footage begins by showing what appears to be a normal Saturday night at the establishment. Nearly every table in the dining area is occupied, waiters can be seen moving between customers serving food and drinks, and the atmosphere is relaxed with no indication of the terrifying ordeal that is about to unfold.

Within moments, the calm is shattered as three armed men walk into the restaurant through the main entrance.

The footage shows the men immediately splitting up in what appears to have been a coordinated move designed to control the entire dining area and prevent customers from escaping. One of the gunmen heads towards the left side of the restaurant while another moves to the right, effectively cutting off possible escape routes for diners seated across the establishment. The third remained in the central section, ensuring the victims were surrounded.

One of the robbers, who appeared to be leading the operation, was dressed in a white jacket, a marvin (knitted cap) and a face mask, concealing much of his identity.

Seconds after entering the premises, he raised what appears to be a handgun above shoulder level in a clear show of force, sending customers into panic.

Without uttering any visible hesitation, the gunman approached the first table nearest to the entrance and began demanding valuables from the frightened occupants. The visibly shaken diners immediately surrendered their mobile phones, wallets and other personal belongings as the man pointed the firearm in their direction.

As the armed men focused on customers near the front section of the restaurant, the footage captures a brief opportunity that several patrons seated closer to the kitchen area seized to escape. Realising the gunmen were occupied, a number of customers hurriedly rushed through a door located near the kitchen exit, fleeing the restaurant before the robbers could intercept them.

The escape, however, was only possible for a handful of diners positioned near the rear exit. Most customers remained trapped at their tables as the armed thugs continued moving systematically across the restaurant.

The CCTV footage shows the trio walking from one table to another, demanding mobile phones, wallets and other valuables from terrified customers. Most victims complied immediately, apparently fearing for their lives as the robbers continued brandishing their firearms throughout the ordeal.

Despite the chaos unfolding inside the restaurant, the thugs appeared composed and methodical, spending several moments collecting valuables before preparing to leave.

As the robbery came to an end, the three men headed towards the exit together. Before stepping outside, the man, who was clad in a white jacket, is seen once again turning back and pointing his firearm in the direction of someone inside the restaurant, an apparent warning against any attempt to pursue them or resist.

Moments later, he exited the premises and joined his accomplices, who had already walked outside, before the trio fled the scene.

The entire incident unfolded rapidly, leaving shaken customers trying to comprehend what had just happened after the gunmen disappeared.
