Friday power outage: Parts of Donholm, Kayole Spine Road among areas to be affected by 8-hour blackout

Residents and businesses in parts of Nairobi, Migori, Nyeri and Kitui counties are set to experience power interruptions on Friday, September 11, 2026, as Kenya Power carries out planned maintenance on its electricity network.
In a notice issued on Thursday, September 10, 2026, the utility company revealed that some areas will remain without electricity for up to eight hours as engineers undertake the planned works.
In Nairobi County, parts of Donholm, Jacaranda and Kayole Spine Road are among the areas listed for the planned interruption, with the outage scheduled to run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
According to Kenya Power, the affected customers will include those around Salute Apartments, Umoja 2 SDA, Davana Hotel and Jacaranda Estate.
Other areas expected to be affected include Carmel Vale and Edenvale schools, part of Donholm Phase 8, Greenspan Mall and its surrounding estate, as well as adjacent customers.
Residents and businesses within the listed locations have therefore been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled eight-hour interruption.
In another Nairobi notice, Kenya Power also listed parts of Runda among the areas that will experience a planned power interruption on Friday.
The Runda outage is also scheduled to run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, affecting customers in Runda and adjacent areas.
Upper Hill has also been listed among the Nairobi areas where electricity supply will be interrupted during the day.
The planned maintenance in Upper Hill will run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and will affect several prominent establishments and roads within the area.

Kenya Power listed Railways Club, the British High Commission, NIC Bank and Upper Hill Road among the affected locations.
Other areas named in the notice include UAB, Matumbatu, Uhuru Park, Kindaruma Road, Kiambere Road, KWFT Headquarters and Masaba Road, together with adjacent customers.
The scheduled maintenance will consequently affect a mix of residential areas, businesses, institutions and public facilities within the three Nairobi locations.
Outside Nairobi, Kenya Power has also announced planned maintenance affecting parts of Migori County.
In the South Nyanza region, customers in Masaba and parts of Kehancha will experience a longer electricity interruption beginning at 8.30 am and running until 5.00 pm.
The affected locations include Masaba, Nyanchabo, Migori Airstrip and the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI).
Kenya Power also listed Kombe, Korubunyige, Nyamagagana, Narolong, Kehancha Primary School and Goikonge among the areas set to be affected, alongside adjacent customers.
In the Mt Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County have also been scheduled for maintenance works.
Customers in Mutathini and Lilongwe will experience an interruption between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
The affected locations include Mutathini Market, Lilongwe, Mutathini Booster and Mutathini PCEA, as well as Karibaini and adjacent customers.
Meanwhile, customers in parts of Kitui County will also be affected by planned maintenance on Friday.
The interruption in the North Eastern region is scheduled to begin earlier, at 8.00 am, and continue until 5.00 pm.
Kenya Power listed Mbondoni and Kavaini among the affected areas, alongside a number of surrounding villages and trading centres.
The notice includes Mbondoni, Kiomo, Kioo, Maiyuni and Kavaini, as well as Mbakini, Kwa Muthusi, Yenzuva, Kavaloi and Kanyaa.
Other locations listed are Kalimbui, Nguutani, Kakululo and Syongoni, together with adjacent customers.
The interruptions form part of Kenya Power’s planned maintenance programme, under which the utility company periodically takes sections of its network offline to facilitate maintenance and other works.
