Kenya Power lists areas scheduled for Tuesday power outage

Kenya Power has listed several areas across the country set to be affected by the planned power outage on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

The utility company, in a public notice issued on Monday, June 29, 2026, noted that the interruptions are necessary to allow its teams to carry out routine network maintenance.

The planned power outage will affect different areas at different times during the day.

“Kindly receive the areas scheduled for maintenance on 30.06.2026,” the post read.

Here are areas set to experience power blackouts.

Mt Kenya and Western regions

According to Kenya Power, the maintenance routine will hit parts of the Mt Kenya region, with three counties facing prolonged blackouts.

In Nyeri County, the lights will go off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected places include Gikondi and Kibutio areas, covering Thunguri Coffee Factory, Nduma Market, Mwati Village, Kiharo Market, and Mukurweini Technical.

Schools like Sr Irene Girls’ and Thanu Polytechnic will also be affected, alongside Muthuthini Market, Kaharo Dispensary, and Gakira Village.

Similary, part of Nyeri facing the same eight-hour hitch includes KWS, Manyatta, Keriako, Batian View, Kiambuthia Village, and Mt. Kenya Leisure Lodge.

In Meru County, Kogo Acheke and Munithu areas will experience a blackout from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This will affect Munithu Girls, Kambiti, Kienderu Market, and Kiruai. Meanwhile, residents in Embu County will only experience a brief one-hour outage from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.

The blackout will affect Embu PGH, Isaack Waton, Blue Valley, Slopes Hotel, ACK, Catholic church, Mini Inn, Kiambuthi Market, Liberty Nursing Home, Sunrise, Embu College, AP, KARI, Kangaru School, Eagle 1, Kangaru Market, Embu Funeral Home, Kithungururu, Spring Valley, and Riverside.

Over in Western Kenya, parts of Kisumu County will go without power for three hours, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The outage will mainly affect Sanda Primary School, Sangayo Primary School, and Wagai Primary School.

Rift Valley and Coastal region

In the Rift Valley, the interruptions will hit both the northern and central blocks. Parts of Uasin Gishu County, specifically Sinai and Munyaka, will have no power between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.

This blackout will also affect Chebarus Centre and its surroundings. Further down in the Central Rift, Kericho County will face an eight-hour blackout from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The affected zones are in Kaitui, including Kaitui Market, Soko Huru, Chemobei, Soliat Boys, Kamasegan, Uzima Chicken, and Bargorot Market.

At the Coast, parts of Kilifi County are on the list for a six-hour outage from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The specific locations include Mavueni, Chonyi, and Jaribuni Quarry.

Kenya Power has advised residents and business owners in all the highlighted zones to plan their day accordingly.
