Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of four counties on Monday, June 29
Kenya Power has announced a series of planned electricity interruptions that will affect parts of four counties on Monday, June 29, 2026, as the utility company undertakes scheduled maintenance on its power distribution network.
In a public notice issued on Sunday, June 28, 2026, the power distributor said the outages are necessary to facilitate maintenance works aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the electricity supply in the affected areas.
The planned interruptions will affect parts of Vihiga, Nyeri, Embu, and Meru counties, with the maintenance expected to take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., depending on the location.
Vihiga County
In Vihiga County, customers in the Lososi area will experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Areas expected to be affected include Lososi, Mudete Tea Factory, Kaimosi Sawmill, Lusengeli and neighbouring customers.
Nyeri County
The outage will affect Mahiga Springs, Kiawambigo, Kiangima, Ngaini, Gatiko, Rathithi, Ngaini Market, Ngaini Secondary School, Ngaini Coffee Factory, Kiangonina, Gatunai, Kahira-ini, Gatunganga Market, Mukanyaritho, Mikundi Market, Chieni, Maganjo Secondary School, Hiriga Secondary School, Hiriga Market, Hiriga Coffee Factory, Manorero, Hiriga 38, and Kiahia, as well as nearby Safaricom and Airtel booster stations and adjacent customers.
Embu County
In Embu County, customers in the KTDA Rukuriri area will be without electricity from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Makutano Market, Mary Goretti Girls, Mufu Market, Kigumo Market, Njeruri Market, Kegonge Boys, Kathunguri Market, Iriari Market, Kariru Secondary School, Gitare Secondary School, Kiangungi Market, Gatumbi Market, Evurore Coffee Factory, Kiaragana Primary School, Kyeni Hospital and Gakwegori Coffee Factory, together with surrounding customers.
Meru County
In Meru County, Kenya Power has scheduled an electricity interruption in the Igoji and Kinoro Tea Factory areas from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The outage will affect Igoji Teachers Training College, Igoji Mission, Kinoro Tea Factory, Kinoro Market, Miruriri Secondary School, Igoji Market, Nkugwe Village, Kuiri Coffee Factory, Rigiri Coffee Factory, Geeto Primary School, Kiune Primary School, Rai Coffee Factory, Gatangungi Market, Kaira Market, Moaa TBC, Kathigu Market, Mworoga, Kiriti Coffee Factory, Pioneer Education Centre, PCEA Mbuti Church, KARI Centre, Kathigiri Primary School, Plot 10, Gikurune Boys, Igoji Boys, Rwarene Primary School, Mweru Market and Kithioko, as well as neighbouring customers.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly during the maintenance period.
