Kenyan rapper KayCyy lands major break as A$AP Rocky signs him to his label
Kenyan US-based rapper KayCyy has landed a major career milestone after officially signing with A$AP Rocky’s AWGE label, marking a defining moment in his rise within global hip-hop.
In an announcement by the record label AWGE on Monday, June 22, 2026, the signing was confirmed with a post reading: “ A$AP Rocky signs Kenyan artist KayCyy to AWGE.”
The signing took place in Houston, Texas, where A$AP Rocky personally welcomed KayCyy into the AWGE family in a moment captured alongside members of the collective.

This partnership comes shortly after the two collaborated on Rocky’s 2025 single “pray4dagang,” which generated buzz ahead of Rocky’s anticipated album.
Early life journey
Born in Keroka, Nyamira County, Kenya, to Kisii parents, KayCyy moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota, at the age of nine, a shift that shaped his identity and later influenced his sound.
His music blends hip-hop, R&B, trap, and melodic experimentation, giving him a distinct voice in contemporary rap.

He first gained international recognition through his contributions to Kanye West’s Donda album, where he provided vocals and songwriting on standout tracks including “Hurricane” and “Keep My Spirit Alive.”
The project earned him a Grammy win and opened doors to collaborations with major global artists such as Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, and Rihanna.
He has since continued to build his solo catalogue with releases such as Roses, Protect Me, and Back in My Bag, which have strengthened his reputation as a melodic and introspective voice in modern rap.
Industry rise
Before joining AWGE, KayCyy was signed to BuVision/Columbia Records and had earlier ties to YZY SND.
The AWGE roster and extended creative circle have included artists and collaborators such as Playboi Carti, Skepta, Slowthai, and Ferg, as well as producers and visual creators who define the collective’s unconventional style.
