Taarab icon Khadija Kopa, who is also the mother to revered songstress Zuhura Othman, popularly known as Zuchu, has dismissed claims circulating on social media that she is selling the multimillion-shilling Prado the singer bought her.

Speaking in a street interview shared by Bongo5 on Instagram on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, she clarified that if she ever decides to sell the vehicle, she would not need to auction it.

She stated that the car is in good condition and speaks for itself, adding that there would be no reason to put it up for auction.

“Tell them that if I ever want to sell this car, I do not need to auction it. You can see for yourself how this car looks; it is a beautiful vehicle. There is no need for an auction,” she stated.

She explained that if she wanted to sell the car, she would simply inform people directly, and interested buyers would come and take it without the need for any public bidding process. According to her, there is no justification for auctioning such a vehicle.

“If I decide to sell it, I will simply inform people that I am selling the car, and they will come and pick it up. So for something like this, there is absolutely no reason to auction it,” she shared.

Zuchu’s mum further lamented that those spreading the rumours are merely chasing social media followers. She urged people to stop following and amplifying the false claims.

“People should stop following me with such claims, and I know those spreading these rumours are only looking for followers,” she said.

Addressing a viral video that sparked the speculation, she clarified that on the day in question, she had only gone to a salon to have her headwrap styled.

She noted that while she was inside, her driver had parked the car nearby and was waiting for her.

She added that after finishing at the salon, the driver picked her up and they left, dismissing suggestions that the vehicle had been taken somewhere for auction.

“The day people started saying that I had taken the car for auction, I had only gone to the salon to have my headwrap styled. That is where I was. My driver had parked the car there and was waiting for me. After I finished, he picked me up, and we left,” she shared.

The singer’s mother also questioned the identity of the person who recorded and shared the video, claiming she was auctioning the car.

She suggested that it may have been young people in the area and hinted that the motive could have been jealousy.

“I do not know who recorded that video and spread the claims that I was auctioning the car, but I believe it was just some young people around there. They know themselves and their jealousy,” she added.

Heartwarming surprise

The ‘Sukari’ hitmaker gifted the car to her mum on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

In an Instagram post, she explained that the achievement carried deep meaning for her as a hard-working daughter who steadily built her career through perseverance and sacrifice.

“Yesterday was one of the most beautiful days of my life because I achieved one of my biggest goals by buying my mother the car of her dreams,” Zuchu wrote.

She noted that seeing her mother overwhelmed with joy brought her a sense of fulfilment she found difficult to put into words.

Zuchu reflected on her journey, saying the gesture symbolised years of effort, faith and quiet prayers finally bearing fruit.

“Honestly, for me as a hard-working daughter, this was not a small thing. There is no happiness in this world like seeing your mother happy, and it is a feeling I cannot fully explain in words. Alhamdulillah,” Zuchu wrote.
