Joyce Gituro heartbroken after young creator who featured in skits with son Jakes dies

Veteran media personality Joyce Gituro has expressed her grief following the death of a young woman who had appeared in several social media videos alongside her son, radio presenter and online personality Jakes Nyanjom.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, July 18, 2026, Gituro revealed that the young woman, identified as Rose, lost her life in a road accident along Uhuru Highway.
According to the media personality, Rose was not just someone who appeared in their online content but a person who had become close to the family.
Gituro noted that followers who regularly watch content created by Jakes Nyanjom and her may have recognised Rose from several videos they had previously shared online.
“Those who follow Jakes Nyanjom and I must have seen this girl in three of our videos,” Joyce Gituro wrote.

She went on to reveal that Rose died on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in a tragic accident along Uhuru Highway.
“Sadly, she lost her life yesterday through an accident along Uhuru Highway,” Gituro added.
The veteran broadcaster described the news as a devastating blow to her family, saying they had grown to know and love the young woman.
“It is such a blow to my family. We knew her, we loved her, and we are totally devastated,” she stated.
Gituro also paid an emotional tribute to Rose, admitting that coming to terms with her death had been extremely difficult.
“Oh Rose, this is so hard. Rest well my beautiful girl,” she wrote.
The loss was also mourned by Jakes Nyanjom, who shared a touching video of himself and Rose dancing together in what appeared to be a nightclub, capturing one of the happy moments they shared before her untimely death.
Accompanying the video, the radio presenter expressed how deeply he misses her.
“I miss you so much, Rose 😭💔💐,” Jakes wrote.

Grisly accident
Rose has since been identified as 24-year-old Rose Mbugua, a former journalist with the Radio Africa Group, whose sudden death has left friends, former colleagues and members of the media fraternity mourning the loss of a young professional remembered for her dedication and warm personality.
She lost her life on Friday evening in a tragic road accident along Uhuru Highway near the University Way roundabout in Nairobi.
According to reports, Rose was travelling as a pillion passenger on a motorcycle that was heading from the Westlands direction towards the city centre when the rider reportedly hit the pavement, lost control and crashed into the left side of a Foton concrete mixer truck.
The impact threw her off the motorcycle, and she suffered severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic police documented the scene before moving her body to the Nairobi City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.
