In a statement, DCI disclosed that its officers seized an imitation firearm following a raid at a house in Githangi village.
During the operation, DCI’s statement detailed that an Administration Police (AP) smoke jacket was also found in that house.
“Upon conducting a thorough search, the officers confiscated an Administration Police smoke jacket, an imitation firearm, 29 rolls of bhang, a rolling pad, and Rizla papers, among other illegal items,” the statement read in part.
Persons of interest
During the operation, DCI informed the nation that three persons of interest were apprehended, namely Rogers Okidos, 26, Godfrey Ndiba, 25, and William Rohara, 25.
The detectives are holding onto the persons of interest as they continue with their investigations regarding their activities in the area.
The latest statement comes hours after DCI filed a report announcing the apprehension of one person of interest linked to a spate of criminal activities in Mombasa.
Detectives noted that the person of interest was nabbed at a motorcycle shop where he was in the process of acquiring a new bike.
DCI claimed that the individual was part of a gang in Mombasa that was using motorbikes to snatch mobile phones from unsuspecting bystanders in the Bamburi, Nyali, and Kadzandani areas.
“In a determined pursuit of the gang, detectives arrested Ian Mahad, also known as Suleiman, at a motorcycle shop in Mombasa’s central business district, where he was purchasing a new bike. This came after angry locals torched his previous motorcycle during his theft spree on Saturday,” DCI’s statement read in part.
