Prince Indah cancels all shows after Raila Odinga’s death

Luo Benga star Prince Indah has cancelled all his performances following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, saying he is too heartbroken to stand on stage.
Speaking during an interview, the singer admitted that Odinga’s death had deeply affected him, both personally and artistically.
“Raila’s death has hit me hard. I have cancelled all my shows. I am not able to stand on stage to perform,” Indah said, his voice heavy with emotion.
Indah described Raila as more than a political figure, calling him a symbol of resilience who inspired his own journey in music.

“I learned resilience from him. Raila never gave up, even after going through so much. He could still wake up, feel energetic, and go to the office. That unmatched resilience is what I admired most,” he said.
The Benga artist, who commands a massive following in Luo Nyanza and across Kenya, said Raila’s unwavering spirit had influenced his music and stage presence.
“I think what will keep me going is that resilience I learned from him,” Indah added.
Emotional toll of loss
Indah admitted he was struggling to process the loss and was not sure when he would return to performing. “Even right now, I cannot perform. I don’t know when I’ll resume my performances,” he confessed.
During the live broadcast, his emotional tone reflected the grief that had gripped many Kenyans following Raila’s death. “The saddest part is that we will never hear from one Raila Amolo Odinga again,” Indah said quietly.

The musician added that every sector of Kenyan life, including the arts, would feel the impact of Odinga’s death. “Every artist, every citizen will feel this loss. Baba inspired all of us in one way or another,” he said.
Indah’s emotional connection to the late Raila Odinga culminated in a special musical tribute released shortly after the statesman’s death, with the song “Tribute to Rt. Hon Raila Odinga.”
Raila Odinga, who died at the age of 80, will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at his ancestral home in Bondo, Siaya County.
