Nairobi Water names areas to go without water on Saturday and Sunday

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (Nairobi Water) has announced a temporary water supply interruption that will affect several areas in Nairobi and neighbouring counties following a leakage on the NCT Raw Water Pipeline near Kigoro Treatment Works.
In a notice issued on Friday evening, June 19, 2026, the utility company said the disruption would affect customers in several residential and commercial areas as technical teams carry out repairs on the damaged pipeline.
Nairobi Water said the interruption would begin on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. and was expected to last until Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 6:00 a.m., covering a period of about 24 hours.
“We wish to inform customers residing in the listed areas of a temporary water supply interruption caused by leakage on the NCT Raw Water Pipeline near Kigoro Treatment Works,” Nairobi Water said in the notice.
Among the areas set to be affected are Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Upper Hill, Ngong Road, Madaraka, Lang’ata, Kibera, Karen, Uthiru, Kawangware and Kangemi.
Other affected areas include Ruai, Ngundu, Kamulu, MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company, according to the notice.
The company advised residents, businesses and other water users in the affected areas to make early preparations by storing enough water before the interruption begins.
“Customers in the affected areas are advised to store sufficient water for domestic and commercial use ahead of the shutdown,” the utility company stated.

Nairobi Water said its technical teams would work to restore normal supply as soon as repair works on the leaking pipeline are completed.
