Salasya promises free concerts if elected president

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has promised to host free concerts featuring both international and local artists if he is elected president.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, December 21, 2025, he reacted to the high demand for tickets at recent major concerts in Nairobi. Salasya said this situation inspired his vision of making entertainment more accessible, arguing that music should bring people together regardless of their financial status.
He stated that under his leadership, concerts would be organised in a way that allows fans to enjoy performances by top artists without paying entry fees.
Salasya referenced the recent Nyayo Stadium concert headlined by Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake and UK-based singer Gabzy, which attracted thousands of fans and sold out within a short time. The show was among the biggest music events held in Nairobi this year and marked a rare return of large-scale stadium concerts at the iconic venue.
“Gabzy also did so well at Nyayo stadium .Nikiwa president I will be inviting international and local artists to perform for free tickets ya chini hapa ilikuwa 5k na zote ziliisha. Many wanted to attend but didn’t have tickets,” Salasya stated.

The concert drew massive excitement, particularly among young fans, with Gabzy’s performance receiving praise for his stage presence and connection with the audience. Asake, one of Africa’s most popular Afrobeats artistes, also delivered a high-energy performance that lived up to expectations, reinforcing his growing influence on the global music scene.
However, the event also highlighted concerns around affordability, as many fans were unable to attend due to ticket prices. Despite strong interest, tickets sold out quickly, leaving many music lovers locked out of the experience.
